ISSUES

Healthcare

Padraic is committed to addressing the shortcomings of the healthcare system by implementing a comprehensive approach that encompasses expanding access to affordable coverage, promoting preventive care, and fostering a more competitive healthcare market. Firstly, Padraic believes in building upon the existing Affordable Care Act (ACA) to provide a public option for those who remain uninsured. This public option would offer competitive premiums and comprehensive coverage, ensuring that everyone has access to quality healthcare regardless of their employment status or income level.

Secondly, Padraic advocates for increased funding for preventive care services, empowering individuals to take charge of their health and reducing the need for costly interventions down the road. Thirdly, Padraic supports measures that promote transparency in pricing, encourage competition among insurance providers, and empower patients to make informed decisions about their care. By implementing these comprehensive strategies, Padraic is committed to improving the healthcare system and ensuring that everyone has access to quality, affordable care.

Education

To addressing the shortcomings of the education system by implementing a comprehensive approach that encompasses expanding access to quality education, promoting early childhood education, and investing in teacher training and development. Firstly, Padraic believes in expanding access to quality education by ensuring that every child, regardless of their background or zip code, has access to a well-funded and equitable education. This includes providing adequate funding for public schools, supporting innovative teaching methods, and expanding access to early childhood education programs.

Padraic advocates for increased funding for early childhood education programs, recognizing the critical role early learning plays in a child's development and academic success. Thirdly, Padraic supports measures that invest in teacher training and professional development, empowering teachers with the resources and support they need to provide high-quality instruction to all students. By implementing these comprehensive strategies, Padraic is committed to improving the education system and ensuring that every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Green Energy

By putting in place a comprehensive strategy that includes boosting energy efficiency initiatives, investing in green infrastructure, and increasing access to renewable energy sources, Padraic is dedicated to tackling the climate issue and moving toward a clean energy economy. First and foremost, Padraic thinks that incentives for the advancement and application of solar, wind, and geothermal power can increase access to renewable energy sources. This include enacting laws requiring the use of renewable energy, offering tax breaks for such projects, and funding R&D for renewable energy. Second, realizing the importance of energy conservation in lowering greenhouse gas emissions and halting climate change, Padraic pushes for more financing for energy-saving initiatives.

In addition to being good for the ecology, Padraic sees renewable energy as having significant economic benefits. We can lessen our dependency on fossil fuels, which are a significant contributor to air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, by switching to renewable energy sources. One of the global industries with the quickest rate of growth is renewable energy, where we can also generate new employment opportunities. We can also assist businesses and people save money on their energy bills by investing in energy efficiency solutions.

Criminal Justice

By lowering the use of severe sentencing guidelines, doing away with cash bail, and increasing access to parole and mercy, Padraic is an advocate for putting an end to mass incarceration. This entails pushing for laws aimed at reforming sentencing guidelines, endorsing programs aimed at reforming bail procedures, and making sure that decisions about parole and clemency are founded more on justice and rehabilitation than on punishment.

advocating for laws that support alternatives to incarceration like community service and diversion programs, as well as encouraging the creation of restorative justice initiatives in communities, courts, and schools.

policies that support neighborhood-based initiatives to prevent crime, understanding that safer communities can only be achieved by tackling the underlying causes of crime. This involves giving money for services like job training and placement, mental health and drug abuse treatment, and after-school programs. Padraic is dedicated to changing the criminal justice system and building a more just and equitable society by putting these all-encompassing strategies into practice.

Term Limits

Term limits support both the introduction of fresh ideas and viewpoints into Congress and help prevent the concentration of power in the hands of a small number of people. Padraic is in favor of a constitutional amendment that would restrict senators to two terms and members of the House of Representatives to six terms each. He thinks that by doing this, Congress would be better able to respond to the demands of the people and loosen its hold on special interests.

Apart from term limits, Padraic is in favor of additional reforms to Congress, like:

  • Election financing by the public to lessen the impact of money in politics

  • An impartial redistricting commission to guarantee the equitable drawing of congressional districts

  • An outlawing of gerrymandering would stop politicians from manipulating the system to their advantage.

According to Padraic, these changes are required to rebuild public confidence in the government and ensure that Congress serves the interests of the people.

Marijuana

Communities of color have suffered disproportionately from the failed war on drugs, which has also resulted in mass incarceration for nonviolent crimes. Padraic is in favor of legislation that would deschedule marijuana from the Controlled Substances Act, support the expungement of marijuana convictions, and make sure that law enforcement resources are directed toward serious crimes rather than minor drug offenses in order to put an end to this failing policy.

In addition, Padraic supports the advancement of economic opportunity and social equity within the cannabis sector.

People of color now face more obstacles to entry and success in the legal cannabis market as a result of the negative effects of the war on drugs. Padraic advocates for policies that address the unequal effects of marijuana enforcement on communities of color and supports laws that give minority-owned cannabis businesses access to capital, licensing, and training.
